Scope of information:

There are a few extras beyond this, but for the most part the following cemeteries are involved here:

1. Satterfield Cemetery - it's in horrible shape and if someone knows how to go about getting it fixed up, please do so. I have pictures of most everything there that can still be read - however I could have easily missed things in the underbrush. Please be aware that this cemetery overlooks Soldier's Run river. Some of my genealogical references talk about a place called "Soldier's Run" but to the best of my knowledge, there has never been a township or such of that name. I believe the actual area referenced was probably in the general area in which this cemetery is located.

2. Cemetery by US125 and Poplar Ridge in Adams County, Ohio. This cemetery wasn't on the map, and if it has a name, I don't know it. It's easily visible from US125, and you'll reach the cemetery before you reach Poplar Ridge if you're headed East out of West Union. I believe it's on the right side of the road. There were only a few graves here, but of the few, I only took a few pictures. There are other graves here I have not photographed.

3. Stone Chapel Cemetery - on my map this is shown only as a church. No indication of a cemetery is given. I have many relatives buried here and I photographed everything that I thought I might have some chance of being able to read. As it is, I have records indicating others buried here that I could not find headstones for - in particular, a Hester Connell who married Samuel Black. If anyone has info as to where Hester's headstone should be located in this cemetery, please let me know.

4. McKenzie Cemetery - I photographed everything here that appeared legible.

5. Hickory Ridge Cemetery (Brown County Ohio) - This is a fairly sizable cemetery with a church (I suspect that this church may be known as Eagle Chapel). I've photographed many graves here, but there are still a good many
that I have not. Of the graves I photographed, they were either family members, familiar surnames, or kind of a "reference picture" that I tend to take to remind me later of what other possible resources may be available in a
particular cemetery.

6. Farmers Chapel (Brown County Ohio) - This is a fairly small cemetery with a church. I found the layout of the graves to be rather odd and have to wonder if there might be a large number of unmarked graves here. Given the shape of the terrain, there obviously were some, but I'm uncertain as to how many. I have photographs of everything here I could read.

If anyone has resources that provide history on these cemeteries and the churches that go with them, I would be interested in hearing about them.

About the Pictures and Information:

For those who might be curious, these pictures were taken with a Casio QV3000 digital camera with the 340MB microdrive (read: no more running out of film). The camera is excellent, however, I as a photographer am not. The mere fact that these pictures look as good as they do despite my ineptitude is a testament to the quality of the camera. When taking the pictures, my primary focus was on making sure the info on the headstones was legible if at all possible - taking a
"nice" shot of the headstone was secondary. As for the information provided here - much of the text MAY VERY WELL
BE INCORRECT. My intention here was to provide enough info to allow you to locate the picture you're looking for, and
then allow you to make your own judgment call as to what's written on the headstone. That said, I have tried to be accurate with the info I've provided. When you see a "?" mark, that simply means I'm seriously questioning the accuracy of that piece of info. I probably should have used many more "?" marks than I did. In some instances the info for a picture is blank simply because I couldn't read the headstone at all - maybe you'll have better luck. You'll notice that every picture has a "preview" link and a "picture" link. The preview link is still a fairly decent picture, but it's a SMALL picture (~16K or so) for those of you with slow Internet connections. The picture link is a link to the full picture. I took high resolution pictures and minimized the jpg compression to retain as much quality as reasonably possible. Please be advised that all of these pictures are about 1 to 1.5MB in size. Watch closely the information in the name fields. Sometimes I use certain key names to signify things other than people (such as "family Black" to indicate a photo with items pertaining to two or more people with the last name Black.)
